Founded in 2002 by Duncan Killiner and Rosaura Etcheverry in the San Juan region of Argentina, Jelu Estate Wines takes its name from the Huarpe word for “sun,” honoring the region’s first inhabitants and their early irrigation systems, still visible in the vineyards of the Zonda Valley. Sourcing organically grown grapes from Patagonia, the Zonda Valley, the Pedernal Valley, and the Calingasta Valley, Duncan works with high-elevation sites marked by extreme temperature shifts and mineral-rich soils. Harvested early to preserve balance and freshness, the wines are bright and lively, expressing the character of the Andes. This wine balances a sanguine core with the leathery complexity of extended bottle age. Ripe forest fruits are framed by grippy tannins, finishing with polished notes of cacao and sweet vanilla.
